Glass Teapot

Glass Teapot

Steveston, BC
There's an eclectic store in Steveston that sells everything from stationary to tea sets. I was quite impressed by the clarity of this glass teapot so I wanted to take a photograph of it. I stood there for quite some time and snapping a few photographs. I wanted a shot without the sales person in the photo, but she kept darting in and out of frame (as if she were purposely trying to thwart me). This photograph was the end result of my labour. =/

Harbour Seal at Steveston

Harbour Seal at Steveston

Steveston, BC
It's been awhile since I've flexed my under developed Photo Shop skills so I decided to give them a spin with these photographs I took at Steveston. This little guy was looking for a meal at the same time I was starting to think about my meal. He was looking left and right but couldn't find anything to eat. At first, I thought he was a dog out for a swim but upon closer inspection, I believe he's a harbour seal (thanks for the clarification, Pedro) which can be quite dangerous but only if you're a salmon. ;-)

Richmond Dike at Steveston Village

Richmond Dike at Steveston Village

Steveston, BC
Yet another peaceful area in Vancouver is the Richmond Dike. The dike actually runs along a good portion of Richmond holding back the might Fraser river.

A few years ago, some entrepreneurs developed the dike area into upscale housing. The whole area has been re-vitalized. Now many people enjoy roller blading or walking their dogs along the dike.

Fire!

Fire!

Steveston, BC
Steveston is quaint little town filled with many shops that are a from a simpler time. Case in point, there's a shop that only sells Romanian Country Bread made in a traditional brick oven (hence the photograph). The store has been reviewed by the USA Today.

Nick, the proprietor, baker, greeter and sales clerk, convinced me to sample their sour dough. It had a nice tangy taste with lots of healthy fibre. At $10/loaf it's a nice treat for yourself once in a while but I couldn't afford making a habit of it.

Rock at Queen Elizabeth Park

Rock at Queen Elizabeth Park

Vancouver, BC
There's quite a few peaceful looking scenes at Queen Elizabeth. Of course, it didn't hurt that we had beautiful blue skies. This photograph was taken a few steps from the waterfall.

Wooden Bridge at Queen Elizabeth Park

Wooden Bridge at Queen Elizabeth Park

Vancouver, BC
Between the waterfall, bridge, and bright blue sky I thought the combination made for a rather peaceful scene that was worth capturing in a photograph. Unfortunately, this was an unplanned trip to Queen Elizabeth (QE) Park so I didn't bring the Nikon. I had to "make due" with my point and shoot. The point and shoot really does take some nice pictures and fits to nicely into my pocket.

Tom Yum Soup at the Green Basil

Tom Yum Soup at the Green Basil

Burnaby, BC
One of the nice things about Vancouver is that there are a lot of good Asian restaurants around. For those of you unfamiliar with Thai cuisine, Tom Yum is a very popular hot and sour soup. This one from the Green Basil contains mushroom, tomatos, chopped lemon grass and Thai herbs.

Mommy Duck and Her Babies

Mommy Duck and Her Babies

Richmond, BC
I was about to say it's Spring and the baby ducks are out but it's June already! It's been a really cold and wet June here in Vancouver but the ducks don't seem to mind. I got a little too close which stressed the momma duck out. She started quacking at me so I slowly backed off.

Photograph taken by the Cosmetics Expert. I quite liked the repetition in this photograph.
