Bistro Pastis - Vancouver, BC
As always, the Cosmetics Expert and I were really looking forward to taking advantage of Dine Out 2011 this year. I have a number of projects on the go at work so we couldn't arrange as many restaurants as we had in the past, plus the event is slowly getting more and more expensive. We decided to go to
Bistro Pastis.

It's a tiny little restaurant that is quite reminiscent of a Parisian Bistro. I had to take advantage of the meter parking. I was lucky enough to snag one of the few spots available near the restaurant.
The food was so greasy that it actually made the Cosmetic Expert physically sick. She didn't get to enjoy her meal.
The restaurant was so overbooked that customers were jamming in the door to try and get away from the cold February weather. This meant there was a constant breeze of arctic wind blowing at me. (I exaggerate but only a little. It was freezing.)
The acoustics in the place were terrible. I needed to yell to be heard.
To top it all off the food was slooooooooooowww. It took them over two hours to serve our meal. I know because I needed to run out and feed the meter. I suspect they forgot about our order (although the owner claimed they didn't.) When the meal finally arrived, the fish was undercooked. It was basically sushi. I wonder if this was the real reason the Cosmetic Expert didn't feel well during dinner.
Overall, I would never recommend this place to ANYONE! If you have already booked it, I highly recommend you book another restaurant.
