This is the user manual for an alarm app I am writing. Both the user manual and alarm app are a work in progress which I do in my "spare" time after work. I welcome any feedback.
The For People Alarm supports a variety of features including:

One Time Alarm - Non-recurring alarm set for any time in the future because I can never remember my appointments the week of the event.

Weekly Alarm - Weekly recurring alarm because everyone needs recurring alarms

Biweekly Alarm - Recurring alarm with a 2 week cycle because of those annoying meetings that occur every other week.

Holiday Aware - Alarm does not ring on holidays because who can't do with more sleep on their days off?

Alarm Label - Custom labels for each alarm because at 2 in the morning, I can't remember what the alarm was for

Snooze Indicator - Shows when alarm is snoozing because at 2:05 in the morning, I can't remember if I pressed dismiss or snooze

On/Off Switch - Enables or disables alarm because I hate fumbling through a million windows to enable/disable a feature

Add Alarm

Tapping on the time on the main window will bring up the Add Alarm screen which allows the user to set a number of parameters for the given alarm

The Add Alarm screen supports the following features:

Cancel changes – Discard any changes made to this alarm because everyone makes mistakes

Save changes – Update the alarm based on the latest options because we all have busy lives

Edit alarm label – Customize alarm label because at 2 in the morning, I can’t remember what the alarm was for

Set the time – Specify when the alarm should fire because how else is the app going to know when you need to wake up.

Check Holiday Aware – Check this option if you don’t want this action to fire during a holiday because nothing makes me grumpier than waking up early on a holiday. Holidays can be configured on the settings screen.

Select action – Select what action you would like to take for this alarm because it’s always good to have options. Choose between an alarm, changing your device’s profile (Vibrate only, Do Not Disturb, Loud, …), Enable/Disable WiFi, or Enable/Disable Bluetooth.

Select action options – Select a specific option for the selected action because you can never have too many options. Alarm options include different ringtones including downloaded sound files.

Select frequency – Select the preferred frequency from one time, weekly, biweekly, or monthly because these were all the different frequencies I needed.

Decided to play hooky so I could check out a nice restaurant on the waterfront before my long flight home. The joke was on me as the restaurant doesn't open for brunch. :( It was too cold to stay around and wait. Oh well, at least I got a nice panorama of the waterfront to help me remember the view. It's been a while since I last posted so here's something for a Throw Back Thursday of the time I went to Concubine Lane in Ipoh, Malaysia. The area used to be a red light district but has since become a tourist trap with many items from a different era. The door and door knocker reminded me of those old school martial arts movies. Pretty cool, eh?

Little bored while grocery shopping with the wife so I decided to take out my camera and snap some pictures of the produce. Even though I'm not a fan of cabbage, the produce was so fresh that I was a little tempted to take a bite. @saveonfoods might not take kindly on me doing that though. ;-)PhotoEdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01815563681997631670noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8719474720567363972.post-74294679063638337752016-06-28T04:29:00.000-07:002016-06-28T04:29:05.251-07:00Palm Tree at Night

After an embarrassing dinner where I forgot my wallet, I needed to dash back to the hotel to find my credit card. Thankfully, everything worked out (otherwise, I would have ended up doing dishes for my meal and no one wants that). On my way back to the hotel the second time, I decided to take this photo of some palm trees that were lit up. Makes for an interesting scene against the black background. Plus being from Vancouver, I'm always intrigued by palm trees. Anyone else like me? Large enough to house three Titantics, Hangar One is one of the world's largest freestanding structures, covering 8 acres (3.2 ha). It was built in the 1930s as a naval airship hangar for the USS Macon. The first two airships to be constructed and launched at the Airdock were USS Akron and its sister ship, USS Macon, built in 1931 and 1933, respectively.
The outer covering on the hanger were removed for health reasons, but the remaining iron structure remains as one of the most recognizable landmarks of California's Silicon Valley. View from the top of the Sea to Sky Gondola - Squamish, BC
Slowly going through some of my older pictures, stitching them together to make Panoramas. This was an old picture taken last summer at the top of the (at that time) newly opened Sea to Sky Gondola. At the right, you'll see all the people at "base camp" and the suspension bridge. Behind them, are British Columbia's majestic Coastal Mountains. There are a few hikes of varying difficulty most of which seemed very easily accessible. If you are bored and looking for some fun things to do outdoors this summer, I'd recommend taking a ride on the gondola. If you are into saving a few dollars, you can buy your tickets online which allows you to skip the line up.
Heights don't really bother me but if you are a bit squeamish, don't look down during the gondola ride. Old Courthouse and Gateway Arch - St. Louis, MO
Finally getting around to posting this picture I took last year. In the foreground is the Old Courthouse where the historic Dred Scott case was tried. In the background is the Gateway Arch which serves as a reminder of a time when St. Louis was the launching point into the West. Woke up this morning to be greeted by the following scene. The AT-AP was crushing a droid while other droids were trying to defend their fallen comrade. Crazy bits of shrapnel everywhere.

@LEGOStar_Wars, great job on this set. Seems to be a big hit both in the building and playing. Fun to see Lego stimulating young imaginations. UBC Apple Festival - Vancouver, BC, Canada
In honour of the upcoming UBC Apple Festival I am posting this apple from the UBC Botanical Garden.
At $4 for entry and children under 12 being free, it's an excellent way to spend the day. The festival is on from Oct 18-19, 2014.PhotoEdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01815563681997631670noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8719474720567363972.post-6975506234106066372014-10-14T04:29:00.000-07:002014-10-14T19:59:35.660-07:00Vancouver Panorama

I've been on a Panorama kick lately. Here's a lovely night time shot encompassing Science World and BC Place. Vancouver really is a beautiful city that I don't take advantage of often enough. On Oct 6, the National basketball Association (NBA) held its third annual NBA Canada Series with a preseason game in Vancouver between the Toronto Raptors and the Sacramento Kings. It was a nail biter of a game where the Raptors managed to start off with an early lead, lose that lead, and then come back from behind to clinch the victory 99 to 94.
This panorama was taken using my BlackBerry Z30. Not a great camera but it was the best one I had available. Espaliered apples trees grown at the UBC Botanical Gardens.
Espalier is the horticultural and ancient agricultural practice of controlling woody plant growth for the production of fruit, by pruning and tying branches to a frame, frequently in formal patterns, flat against a structure such as a wall, fence, or trellis, and also plants which have been shaped in this way.
